Teacher Evie – Director
T. Evie was hired as Director of Oak Lane Day Care in November, 2016. Her varied educational career has included both early childhood and elementary settings in Quaker schools. As Evie’s heart is in early childhood education, she returned to teaching young children three years ago, followed by her appointment to Oak Lane Day Care. This is Evie’s dream job – to be part of a nurturing learning community focused on children and their families.
T. Evie earned a B.A. in Sociology from Bucknell University and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Cabrini University.
A native of the Philadelphia suburbs, T. Evie currently lives in West Chester with her husband, Tom. Their household includes Tom’s mother for whom they provide care. Between them, they have three grown children and one granddaughter. Evie practices yoga and enjoys being outside in the garden or walking.
Teacher Rachel – Bear Cubs (Toddlers)
Rachel Kittle has been working at Oak Lane since 1995. She started out in the Infant / Young Toddler room and then moved on to the Older Toddler room. Over the past few years she has been taking turns teaching the Older Toddlers and Preschoolers. She enjoys both age groups and welcomes the change from year to year. Her creativity becomes evident when she involves the children in a range of art projects. She believes in the importance of spending as much time outdoors as possible and doesn’t shy away from dressing all the children in their winter gear to go play in the snow. Born in Syracuse, NY, she now lives in West Chester with her 4 children. Jacob, Alula, Zane and Chloe have all attended Oak Lane
Teacher Suzanne – Owls (Preschool)
Teacher Suzanne has been working at Oak Lane since 2010. She started out assisted in the Young Toddler room and then moved to the 4 year old room as head teacher. She has an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and has worked in the childcare field since 1986. She took a break from the field in 1999 with the birth of her first daughter. She stayed at home her 2 girls and ran an at home ebay business with her husband. She came back to the childcare field when her youngest daughter entered 1st grade. She missed teaching and was thrilled to find a school like Oak Lane which so matched her philosophy on what makes a great school. She loves art projects and taking long walks with the children around the campus. She‘s a native of the area and currently lives in Exton with her husband Bryan and their daughters Laura and Megan as well as their dog Gabe. She loves to paint , garden and do craft projects around the house with her girls.
Teacher Nikki – Teacher
T. Nikki joined Oak Lane in 2013. She started in the Infant Room, worked with T. Rachel in the Young Toddler classroom, and now assists in both Bear Cubs and Owls. She graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in 2012 with honors. Nikki earned an associate’s degree in education from Delaware County Community College. She is currently a student at West Chester University pursuing a degree in Education Grades Preparation. When she is not at Oak Lane or school, Nikki enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and music.
Teacher Shari – Bear Cubs (Toddlers)
Prior to teaching at Oak Lane Day Care, T. Shari was a Psychiatric Rehab Counselor for 15 years and House Supervisor for Mental Health Facility for 4 years.
With the birth of her four grandchildren Shari discovered a new found love of working with young children, especially in a structured care environment. Shari’s Oak Lane Day Care career began in 2015. “I Love my job!”
Teacher Zara – Butterflies (Infants and Young Toddlers)
T. Zara loves teaching young children, especially infants and toddlers. Working with young children is very rewarding to Zara: “It makes me happy and energizes me. I love seeing them grow and develop and learn new skills every day.” Zara began working at Oak Lane Day Care in September, 2016 and has had the pleasure of meeting many children and their families. She looks forward to many more years of working at Oak Lane and to seeing the babies grow and develop through their early childhood years.
She has worked in the field of child care for the past 9 years. Before that, Zara was a social worker at Chester County Department of Children and Youth where she worked with foster and adoptive families/children for many years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester University and holds a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Zara was born in Iran and has lived in the United States for about thirty years. Zara is an avid hiker in her spare time.
Teacher Jackie – Butterflies (Infants and Young Toddlers)
Jacqueline graduated from Rowan University in the fall of 2015 with Magnum Cum Laude Honors and a Bachelor’s degree in Writing Arts & American Studies as well as an Early Childhood Education Minor. Jacqueline has experience at Camden Public Schools where she completed her student teaching with a special education elementary class. She babysits for a family on occasional weekends and has experience working with infants and toddlers. She believes all children are capable of accomplishing anything if they are given the support and encouragement they need. Jacqueline got married in April 2016 and enjoys spending time with her husband and their puppy. Jacqueline has been at Oak Lane since January 2017, and she is thrilled to be teaching in the infant room!
Teacher Heather – Afternoon Assistant
T. Heather is a junior psychology major at West Chester University. She is a native of Bucks County where she earned her diploma at Bensalem High School before attending Bucks County Community College and earning her associates’ degree in psychology. Heather taught in a child care center near her home before coming to Oak Lane Day Care in January 2017.
